60th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration -The birth of Europe (2010)
On 9 May 1950, Robert Schuman, foreign affairs minister of France announced -in a press conference- to the world his project to create an extended industrial and economic co-operation between France and Germany and invited other neighbouring countries to join in.
It was the birth of today's United Europe, called the European Union.
To mark the 60th anniversary, EPP TV produced this documentary, in which Jacques-Rene Rabier, 92, tells the story of the event as he has witnessed it.
